About Time

Arrow #3 had been using hand-me-down furniture for years. Uncomplainingly too, bless her.

Finally the wardrobe fell apart. Well, almost literally. The doors wont go back on anymore. Repairs are futile.

So Hubby and I went shopping. And boy, did we shop! This delivery came a few days later!
Almost all the contents were for us. We decided to get a bedroom suite that was going fairly cheaply and divide up the pieces into the different rooms. Most of the other bedrooms had second hand furniture too!

All in all, it was quite an exciting day! Couple that with my re-arranging Arrow#3's room to her delight,  I think it has been a good few days!

Penguin Poser

The girls had gone out for lunch. They asked what I'd like. So I figured a nice cold coffee would be a treat. The coffee came in a specially sealed cup (see pic on the right)
Now, in itself, a cup like that is pretty usual. The thing was, it had a penguin on the cover. And if you knew Arrow #3, she loves penguins.

So I whatsapp-ed her with a picture of the penguin. See top middle picture.

Her reply was as expected - vintage Arrow #3 - "DID YOU KILL HIM????" meaning did I poke a straw right through the penguin to get to my drink.

I then sent her the next pic on the right to show her I didn't. To her relief.

After that, I showed the whatsapp exchange to the girls, chuckling away.

Which is what Arrow #3 expected me to do.

When did we both get so predictable? Haha!

The Littl' 'Un

We finally got around to getting Arrow #3 a smartphone. Touch screen no less. A simple model. Slightly smaller than mine. Suits her well because her hands are even smaller than my small hands!
Now she can whatsapp her friends and family for free - when there is wifi around. Cuts her cost down. At least that is the plan!

It can also update calendar entries so we can keep in touch! Now that's a high tech family for you!

On the other hand however, it can be a source of distraction. That has to be checked.

So the littl' 'un will find Big Mmmmommmma checking on her phone periodically. That's part of being in this family.....

A Special Moment

She comes from a background of singing in church.
Her mother travels with her.
She seems to be pretty, sweet, and talented.
She is Pixie Lott.
Up until recently I had not heard of her before. But Arrow #3 had. After some quick research we decided it was all right and so we went ahead to get her and her good friend some passes.

And what a time they had! So did we! I hope this will be one of the Memory-Making Moments.... !

Snip Snip

After months of procrastination, we did it.

Following months of competing on length, we chopped it.

Subsequent to much deliberation and heart-searching, yea, even taking a poll (by Arrow #3) we did it!

Off more than half went! Snipped off in one afternoon. Two hours and we were out the door with new - old looks. New for her - super nice and easy to manage. Old for me - easy to handle and a welcome back change.

A Break

I am still feeling the effects of last month's whizzing around non-stop. At times I get giddy. Other times I break out in a rash. Quite unlike me.

Yes, I have been to the doctor. I finally succumbed!

The diagnosis? Not sure. Probably chemical imbalance under the skin, stress, lack of sleep.... all the above. What with perimenopause as well!

I think I need a good break. A long one. Go away somewhere and have a retreat. No, not just a retreat but have one of those luxury retreats! Yes! I am getting excited at the thought of that!

The recent wedding? It was held at one of those fancy places and the couple had a estate weddings and events planner to assist them. What a grand affair it was. Not only that, it was also an lovely emotional one.

Goodness! All this talk makes me want to hop on the next flight out....!

Wait

It was one of those weeks. Tiring meetings. Sapping weather. Difficult circumstances.

Misunderstood. Misinformed. Mistaken more than once.

I had to keep reminding myself to stay focused.

Then on the way home with Arrow #3, we saw this.
Amazed that I managed to catch a shot of it. Delighted that it was flying repeatedly overhead. Humbled by the reminder the Lord had sent.

Isaiah 40:31But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

I Am Tempted

I am tempted....

to cook dinner
to wash the car
to clean the floor
to wipe the table tops
to tidy up the bedrooms
to sort out the family area

I toy with the idea....
to repair some clothes with tears and holes
to strip, change and wash the bedsheets
to take down, wash and put back up the curtains

I think about....
painting the front fence
changing some of the ceiling light bulbs
fixing the broken gate light
cutting the grass in the garden

BUT
I promised.
I gave my word.
I told a few concerned people that I would do so....

...I would rest.

SO

I indulged myself!
I sleep!
I listen to music.
I sleep some more.
I snack.
I crawl back to bed.
I read, read, read.

Conclusion - I have been a good girl. Hee Hee!

PS OK so I did so a simple dinner. And yes I did strip change and clean the sheets... but two of out the rest isn't work...! Oh, and I sewed a button on Hubby's shirt. But that doesn't count!

Growing Up

Another stage in Arrow #3's life. She is learning to care for her parents more. She decided that since I wasn't feeling so well, she would cook!
These were her attempts. I am grateful!

But I guess I ought to increase her repertoire of dishes.....!

Voila!

First a layer of white. The original walls were purplish. This meant that it took a while to get a good even layer of white.

Then masking tape had to be placed. Accurately.

After that, the chosen colour, in this case, pink, is painted on.

Finally when that is dried, the extra touch is put in.
A moustache on the bathroom door (reminds her of Dad she says). More difficult to apply are some swirls above the door adjoining our room. I have to help her with these. Some Scripture verses and important thoughts near the foot of the bed completes the final touch.

All in all, it is a good few days' project. Interacting, imparting, sharing, struggling, learning, understanding, observing, working alongside each other for a mutual goal. More than one goal achieved in the end.

Put to Good Use

Finally got around to using the machine properly! It's been ages since we got this curtain-thingy that Arrow #3 wanted hung at her door. I think it has had to be months actually. One busy day led to another busy day. Even holidays and days off didn't see this as a priority.

Until one day. Arrow #3 and I decided to embark on a project. A fairly big one too. We decided to re-decorate her room.

We started with giving the walls a coat of white paint. The next day, whilst Arrow #3 put masking tape on the wall, I did this. Sewed some velcro to hang the curtain up with.
Part 2 coming up after next.
